Calcium-Rich Sesame Dip

Did you know that sesame seeds are an amazing source of calcium?

This tasty dip is packed full of bone-building calcium, as well as other the important minerals magnesium, iron, copper and manganese.

With it’s slightly nutty taste and smooth texture, this dip makes a great snack or can be used as a spread as an alternative to butter.

Here’s the recipe…


  • 1 cup unhulled tahini (a paste of ground sesame seeds)
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • 1 large clove garlic, pressed
  • ½ cup sesame seeds


  • In a 600 ml jar, combine the tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and water together and mix thoroughly. Stir in salt and garlic.
  • In a large frying pan, over medium heat, toast the sesame seeds for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. Keep an eye on them to make sure that they don’t burn and stir them frequently.
  • Allow the sesame seeds to cool for 5 minutes. Transfer them into to a food processor and blend until coarsely ground.
  • Stir the ground sesame seeds into tahini mixture and serve.


This tasty dip is best shared with friends and served with crunchy veggie sticks.
