Antioxidant-Rich Berry Smoothie

By  |  0 Comments

This is one of my favourite breakfast smoothies – it tastes fantastic and is packed full of antioxidants!

Berries are such an amazing superfood as they contain lots of nutrients including vitamin C, B vitamins, potassium and magnesium. They also provide 5 different types of antioxidants including resveratrol – the anti-ageing antioxidant! Berries are also one of the lowest GI (Glycaemic Index) fruits which means they have a low sugar content.

So here’s the recipe…

  • 1 cup of of almond milk (if you want to make your own, here’s the recipe)
  • 1/2 cup of mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tbsp of maca powder
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp raw almonds

If you have a nut allergy, take out the nuts and replace the almond milk with rice or oat milk.

  • Blitz it all up in a blender and you’ll have a yummy smoothie in under 2 minutes – it’s that easy!
  • The recipe makes a smoothie for one, so just double the ingredients if you need to make more.

Smoothies make a great breakfast, especially for those on the run, or as an afternoon snack when your energy levels slump. Enjoy!
