Why I Love Green Juices!

Green juices are one of my favourite things to drink (alongside Cacao smoothies and Coconut water).

Why I hear you ask… (as many people look at the green colour of the juice and quite often scrunch their noses up in disgust!)

Well, Green Juices are:

  1. Packed full of nutrients and taste super amazing and refreshing!
  2. Very alkalising so they neutralise the excess acidity that we expose ourselves to on a daily basis if we eat animal products, grains, fried foods and drink alcohol.
  3. Cleansing and promote detoxification due to their high Chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll is the green pigment present in all green plants and algae which allow them to absorb energy from light (photosynthesis). Chlorophyll is so amazing for us humans because it cleanses and oxygenates the blood and also aids in detoxification by binding with toxins and heavy metals so that they can be excreted out of the body. It is very rich  in antioxidants, amino acids and enzymes which help to rejuvenate our cells and prevent damage that may be caused by free radicals.
  4. Great at keeping your blood sugar levels balanced and won’t spike insulin levels like fruit and sweet vegetables juices do!
  5. Hydrating and full of electrolytes – a great way to replenish after a workout!
  6. Incredibly healing and many people have helped to restore their health by drinking daily green juices.

Here’s a recipe for one of my favourite Green Juices:

  • Kale (approx. 3 stems)
  • 4 sticks of Celery
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 2 Kiwis
  • 2 Green apples
  • 1 Pineapple (whole)

This will make enough juice to fill 4 medium sized glasses or Mason jars.
