My Cold & Flu Remedy

The chilly weather that we’re having over in Australia is certainly making me want to hibernate with a duvet and a hot water bottle! This time of year is also the time when our immune systems go into high alert because everyone around us seems to be infected with the dreaded lurgy and colds & flu are at an all-time high.

So if you feel yourself getting sick, or if you’ve already come down with something then you need to get onto my cold & flu remedy ASAP. This is my go-to remedy before I even crack open the herbs or Vitamin C.

Here’s the recipe and I promise, it works a treat!

  • — 1/2 fresh lemon
  • — 1-2 cloves garlic crushed, then diced
  • — Fresh grated ginger (a thumb)
  • — 1 cup of hot water
  • — Cayenne pepper (couple of sprinkles)
  • — 1 tsp honey (preferably raw or Jarrah honey)

Make sure that you crush the garlic first (to release the active compound Allicin which has anti-bacterial properties). Then dice it into small pieces. Put all the ingredients to the cup and add hot water. Mix well.

The aim is to consume ALL of it, and this includes the garlic and ginger – so there should be nothing left at the end.

Drink one cup of these a few times per day whilst in the acute phase of a cold or flu.
