5 Weight Loss Tips That Work

By  |  0 Comments

Losing weight can be one of the hardest things to do, especially if you don’t know where to start. A lifetime of bad habits and a sedentary lifestyle can certainly lead you down the path of no return.

The biggest piece of advice that I can give you is to start seeing food as fuel for your body – eat consciously and only consume foods that contain nutrients. Stop dieting and start eating for health!

There is definitely no quick fix or magic pill out there, shedding those extra kilos comes down to making good food & lifestyle choices and putting the effort in.

Here are my 5 Weight Loss Tips

  1. Avoid processed foods – they contain plenty of empty calories that DO NOT look good on your hips! They also contain toxic additives and preservatives which can cause a whole host of health problems. Start reading labels to find out what is actually in the food you’re eating and whether it has any hidden sugars – check out this post to learn How to Read a Label.
  2. Eat small, regular meals throughout the day and aim to eat foods with a low GI (Glycaemic Index). High GI foods are higher in sugar and hit your bloodstream very quickly which will also spike your insulin levels. Refined carbohydrates (bread, pastries, cereals, biscuits) all have a high GI, as do most grains such as white rice and pasta. If you don’t use up all this extra sugar, you will just store it as fat!
  3. Don’t skip breakfast as this is the quickest way to pile on the pounds! So many people miss this most important meal of the day and they don’t actually know how detrimental it is for them.
  4. Plan your food for the week and whatever you do, don’t go shopping when you’re hungry! If you get organised, stock the fridge with healthy food and make your lunches to take to work, you’re more likely to resist temptation because you’re ill-prepared and grab something ‘on the run’. Make batches of food and freeze portions as this is a great way to save time during the week.
  5. Move your body – exercise is key if you want to shift excess weight. If you don’t increase your cardio and go into fat-burning mode, then you’re not going to burn up the calories. Most people consume an excess of calories each day and then spend the whole day sitting down in an office – not beneficial for your waistline in any shape or form!

By making small changes in your everyday life TODAY will go a long way to helping you lose those extra kilos.

It’s better to start slowly and go at your own pace with a plan that is going to fit in with your life than to not start at all! I’ve got plenty of healthy, yummy recipes in the Recipes section so make sure you check them out.
